Yes you, Jesus. Could you put a hold on that? Yeah, you see today is Thursday and we are all REAL busy. Let's see, the first free time we have is on Sunday. Yeah, wait until then.
As an Eastern Catholic, I find this yanking of holy days in the West-Roman calendar absurd. Doing so destroys the concept of a liturgical calendar, ignores the sanctification of time, and makes the Church look likes she's run by mathematical dolts who cannot count, who cannot comprehend the plain sense of "40 days" in the Scriptures. This also panders to the idea that everyone is too busy to get to Mass so we might as well cravenly coddle this deplorable tendency.
Sadly, it was this very kind of thing, i.e., rearranging Holy Days of Obligation to a time when when are more "convenient"--that sparked my return to Tradition. I have a friend who went to Wendover today. I reminded her that today is a Holy Day of Obligation, but she felt gambling was more important. This kind of attitude is, I fear, a product of the Novus Ordo culture.......It's too much about personal needs and not enough about Our Lord and His Sacrifice.
Why don't you have Mass at your local Catholic elementary school on days like this? The kids should have Mass more than once a month anyway and you would be training the next generation of Catholics properly.
I think a reaction to this "experiment" is needed with regard to moving Holy Days of Obligation to Sundays. How do we go about voicing our concerns? Surely we are not busier than the rest of the world that we can't handle coming to mass on a weekday.

Thanks for not being TOO busy to give us a REAL Mass today Father!
Good reminder, Father. This is what the Catholic Church in Canada is reduced to. We only have two Holy Days of Obligation a year: Christmas and Jan.1

Hey, I made it my own HDOO and went to church.
BTW, Father, regarding your latest earworm - dude, listen to the version done by the group, The Ataris. FAR better than what Don Henley put out!

I'll just have to second what adam said. Too true!
I grew up in Massachusetts, and now live near Pittsburgh (Boston and Philadelphia provinces, respectively).
I have luckily never celebrated the Ascension on Sunday in my whole life. Always on Thursday. Tough break, everybody; I know I'd hate it.
